Nicky Emblem-Cooper

Nicky became involved with the club having played basketball at Portobello High School in the 1980’s under the tutelage of Toni Szifris.  She managed to combine her basketball endeavours with javelin throwing and achieved representative honours for Scotland and competed at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in New Zealand.

She then focused her efforts solely on basketball and played for Scotland at senior level in multiple international competitions.

She was recruited during one such European qualifying tournaments in Denmark and took up a basketball scholarship to attend Phillips University in Oklahoma,1993 to 1997. Whilst playing college ball she was named to the All-American team multiple times.

She went on to pursue a career in coaching and education. She now lives in Sapulpa, Oklahoma working as a PE teacher and basketball coach and lives with her husband, Steve.
