Liz Simpson

(Inducted 2019)

Liz Simpson first started playing basketball in Portobello in the 1970s and went on to play for both local team Cavalry Park and our Senior Women’s team up until 1991.

Liz stayed involved in basketball after she finished playing, coaching the Edinburgh Primary squads from 2001 to 2003 and then our under-14 girls teams from 2005 including ‘the Wildcats’ who not only won the U16 Lothian League but also competed in the National League U16 League. Liz continued working with this age group when she became our National League U16 coach from 2008 to 2011.

Liz also spent a number of years involved in the Scottish National team youth programmes, serving as assistant coach of Scotland U16 girls (2003), assistant coach of Scotland U18 girls (2003-05), Head Coach of Scotland U14 girls (2005-09) and as team manager for the Scotland U18 boys (2015-17).

Liz served as a member of the Club’s management committee to help run the Club she had been involved in for so many years, and she’s still lending a helping hand to this day with the tuck shop and other projects!
